Warriors Boxing Show with Boxing Ontario

Earlier this month amateur boxing returned to London with the first show of 2016. I had to be there and a lot of other people turned out as well. It was the pre-Christmas boxing event in London. Warriors Boxing hosted the Boxing Ontario event. 11 competitive fights that night on the card. One extra cool thing was Donovan "Razor" Ruddock was cornering his son in the second fight of the evening. It was a lot of fun getting back to a local club for a show. Rob Caron is a great guy if you're looking to train in boxing in London, Ontario. Politics aside in Ontario's amateur boxing world, both organizations do a fantastic job of matchmaking. The fights are competitive and safe. A couple of shout outs, one to Julia for arranging the round card girls who looked great wearing Elizabeth Noel and to Miguel Estrada on his win. I'm looking forward to more boxing events in London in 2017.

Photoshoot with Flynn Fitness

I recent did a photoshoot with Andrew Flynn of Flynn Fitness. We did the photoshoot at Flexplex Canada, which is an awesome gym and very welcoming. Andrew had been holding peak competition shape for the 3rd week by the time we shot. It takes an incredible amount for focus and discipline to hold that for a couple of days, 3 weeks is insane. Obviously he came in, in great shape. Andrew is an extremely personable guy to work with and we got photos we're both proud of. Check out his Instagram account for the latest updates.

Fitness with April

Athletic Shoot with Sebastian

I had contacted Sebastin a couple of months ago about getting together to photograph my implied nude athletic series. He liked the concept and the images but was a little unsure because he's an actor. I completely understood his hesitation and left it with him. We ended up reconnecting a month later and he said lets do it, so last weekend I brought him into studio.

I am humbled by the trust he put in me and my work. Sebastian is a complete class act and total professional to work with. Rather than go on I'll leave you with Sebastian's beautiful words on how he felt about the first image he got back.

Why?... Why this image?

I think it has to do with how life strips us down to all we really are sometimes.
It's about losing everything this past few years and starting over with all that's left. .

It's about how a person begins to fight their way back, leaping naked and fearless into the world, with all the strength they have in them and seeing nothing through the dark.

When all a person thinks they are is stripped away, it starts from this, from all they ever really were - just a body, just a mind... just a will to fight for something more.

When the elements that define most people are lost - belief systems, relationships, titles
and things that give comfort - what remains? Your art forms, your ideas, your passion - 
these are all you hold inside you when you begin again.

And what about the Bo staff? 
Learning to wield it came to make sense, because what else but a stick is available when all else is stripped away?

When life lays us bare we have no tools, no weapons. 
We use what's on the ground and dive into the fight with whatever is at hand.

We're born with nothing, so it makes sense that some find a rebirth the same way,
leaping into life stripped of everything, but the stuff God gave us to start with.

3 Alarm Fire (NSFW)

I don't normally shoot a lot of glamour / pinup type stuff, but when an international nude model and photographer shows up at your studio with bunker gear, you make an exception. April came into the studio to shoot some fitness images showing off her new body and brought along some firefighter gear to play with as well. I think you'll agree the results were fun and sexy.

Contest Winner - John & Ontario Muscle

In October I teamed up with Ontario Muscle to have a contest with the winner receiving a free photo shoot with me. There were a tonne of great entries, so many so that we ended up choosing 2 winners for the contest. John and Lori both won. John came into the studio recently after his 2nd place finish in the bodybuilding division at the OPA 2016 GNC Allmax London Championships. Lori will be shooting with us next spring.

John came in and killed it. His poses were great, he held flexes forever and was super tight and vascular, not to mention huge. He said he really wanted to work on his back and legs coming into the competition and those ended up strengths for him. John had great size and symmetry in his development and his back looks just like a Christmas tree. In addition to all of that, John was a great guy to hang out with, fun to be around but a strong, quiet, determination.

Thanks to Ontario Muscle for promoting the hell out of the contest. They are a great platform for fitness and bodybuilding competitors and enthusiasts in the province. I'm looking forward to shooting with Lori in the spring as well.

PFC 5 - Fight Week

Now less than a week away from the action next Sunday at the London Music Hall. PFC 5 "Deck the Halls with Beer and Brawls" is coming! Lots of exciting fights on the card and I will be cageside as always taking the pictures. PFC basically puts on a pro show with amateur rules, fighters walk straight out to the cage in front of a 30' video wall with hundreds of screaming fans. Preview from Last Weekend

Last Saturday I had a couple of people come into studio for fitness shoots. First up was Jeff of Ontario Muscle. Jeff has had a great transformation over the last couple of years and wanted to document his hard work.

Jeff has worked especially hard on getting his legs in great shape.

Next up was Carolyn. She an I have shot before. Last time it was all about the athletics, this time she wanted to show a softer side while still being strong. I think we accomplished that.

ACE Fights - The Action

With the Ontario Athletic Commission making life difficult for people putting on professional mixed martial arts shows it is great that Ontario has such a large amateur scene. Promoters like ACE give the fighters and fans an outlet for mixed martial arts in Ontario. Last Friday 28 fighters got to test themselves in front of 100's of fans at Nashville North. Last year there were close to 25 AMMA shows in Ontario, from Windsor to Kingston and North to Sault Ste Marie. Make sure to get out and support the local promotions fighting to keep MMA alive in Ontario.

ACE Fights - The Winners

Friday night I was asked to shoot ACE Fights' show in Georgetown at Nashville North. I had shot their first show way and was happy to be back there. There were 14 fight and the main card had lots of action. I saw all of my friends from AMMAO that night. I like shooting the perspective of shooting through the cage, especially when the fight goes to the ground.

Shout out to Woodrow James for reffing all 14 fights, the man worked hard.

I have one more MMA show to do in December to round out my fight schedule for the year. As of the last fight on Friday I'm at 369 fights photographed.
