Outdoor Fall Portrait Photoshoot with Chelsey

There’s just something about fall that feels like magic—the crisp air, the golden light, and of course, the leaves showing off their best colors before winter. When Chelsey reached out for an outdoor portrait session, I knew right away we were going to have fun creating something special with that autumn vibe.

We headed out to a local forest that’s one of my go-to spots for fall portraits. The place was absolutely glowing that day—warm oranges, reds, and yellows everywhere you looked. Chelsey showed up ready to go, dressed perfectly to complement the season.

What I love about sessions like this is how relaxed and natural they feel. We wandered through trails, stopped at spots where the light was streaming perfectly through the trees, and just let the shoot unfold. Chelsey was a total natural in front of the camera—even when I asked her to walk through piles of crunchy leaves or laugh out loud for no reason. Those candid moments always end up being my favorite shots.

One of the best parts of photographing outdoors in the fall is how every backdrop feels like a painting. We played with a few different looks—close-ups with colorful leaves framing her face, wide shots with Chelsey standing against a backdrop of tall trees, and even some moody, low-light shots as the sun started to dip.

By the end of the session, we had a gallery of warm, vibrant images that felt like fall itself: cozy, rich, and full of life. It’s sessions like this that remind me why I love what I do—capturing not just how someone looks, but how the moment feels.

If you’re ever thinking about updating your portraits, fall is hands-down one of the best times to do it. The light, the colors, the atmosphere—it all comes together to make portraits that stand out.
