Knife Photography

I decided to experiment and photograph some of my knives this last weekend. One of my former students Majid came to help out. We ended up shooting 4 knives over the course of a few hours. I have a list of things I’d do differently next time, but I’m happy with the results. Product photography with reflective surfaces is not always easy.

Knife #1 - Nitro V steel, giraffe bone and micarta handle from BG Bosch in St Thomas, ON.

Knife #2 - AEL-B Steel, micarta handle, a great little slicer from David in Belleville, ON.

Knife #3 - Damascus VG-10 steel, mother of pearl / Apache gold handle from Santa Fe Stoneworks.

Knife #4 -Gulo Pro D2 Steel, stainless steel handles from Boker.

Knife #5 - Artisan Cutlery - Osprey in M390 / Titanium

- Mark Ruddick Photography - My images are an exploration of the human body under muscle stress — understanding the body’s strength, flexibility, and power. Creating these images has given me a better understanding of the human form which has transitioned into my commercial fitness work.

I am a London, Ontario photographer who specializes in fitness, bodybuilding and fight photography.

I love to tell stories as anyone who's worked with me can attest. That includes visual stories through photographs. Let me tell your story and provide high impact images of you to sponsors, agencies, family or just for yourself.
