Engagement Photos - Marc & Caroline

Normally I don't do engagement photos, wedding photos or family photos. On rare occasions when friends ask I will. Such was the case when professional boxer Marc "El Gwapo" Pagcaliwangan and amateur boxer Caroline Cassin asked me to shoot their engagement pictures. They wanted them done in the boxing ring. Marc is the head boxing coach at Platinum Training Facility so it was a no-brainer to have the session there in Platinum's beautiful new boxing ring. Here's a few pictures from their session. If you're looking to get wedding or engagement photos done, I can recommend some great local photographers for that.

SHAW BOXING 2017 - Pro Boxing in Toronto

The Shaw Boxing event is a fund raising event held every year to benefit the Shaw Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake. I was shooting for Below the Belt Magazine and Dameon Okposio.

Kevin Higson defeated Ryan Young by decision to capture the North American and Canadian super welterweight titles.

Tim Cronin defeated Nathan Millier in a close decision to become the new Canadian Light Heavyweight champion

Tariq Ismail defeats Dylan Rushton in his professional boxing debut in a 4 round decision.

The Shaw Festival produces and presents the work of George Bernard Shaw (1856-1950) and playwrights writing anywhere in the world during, or about, the era of Shaw’s lifetime.  In the Spirit of George Bernard Shaw, the Shaw Festival provokes the mind and stirs the soul through a theatre experience so compelling that, year after year, ever broadening groups of artists, audiences and supporters are drawn to our work in Niagara-on-the-Lake and beyond. The Shaw produces 10 to 12 plays each season, with approximately 800 performances in our four theatres, to audiences totaling about 300,000 people.

The Shaw Boxing event provides a unique opportunity to interact with clients and network with colleagues in the business community, during the reception and throughout the evening. Hosted at the venerable Fairmont Royal York, guests enjoy first class hospitality throughout the evening including a gourmet dinner, wine, after-dinner spirits, and refreshments during the boxing matches. The three bouts are professionally sanctioned fights, providing the chance to enjoy high-quality sporting action close to their table. The guest list includes 700+ CEOs and senior executives from the ranks of Canada’s leading companies including audit, tax & advisory, major banks, law, investment, private equity, and real estate.

SHAW BOXING - Pro Boxing in Toronto

The Shaw Boxing event is a fund raising event held every year to benefit the Shaw Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake. This year on April the 4th is a great night of fights. I've personally know 5 of the 6 boxers on the card and have previously photographed 4 of them.

There are some real good fights on this card, especially the main event. I photographed both of those fighters multiple times. I'm hoping Higson / Young becomes a by-word for great Canadian boxing. I'm covering the event for Below the Belt Magazine.

Kevin Higson - NABA Champion

Ryan Young - NCC Canadian Champion

SHOBOX - Clarissa Shields Fight - MGM Grand Detroit

Friday night I had the opportunity to photograph the SHOBOX event and the MGM Grand Detroit. It was a great night of fights and I had a ringside seat. I got to see some old friends, meet some great new people and watch the fights. Boxing is a beautiful sport.

This was an historic night as it was the first time female boxers headlined a SHOBOX card. Congratulations to Clarissa Shields for capturing the NABF Middleweight Championship.

Steve "The Renegade" Rainford

I met Steve back in 2014 and have shot 2 of his 3 professional fights and countless bouts where he has cornered, refereed or judged plus a promotional shoot. Steve climbs back into the ring Saturday night in Mississauga in a rematch vs. Aurey Cox. There first fight was close and this one should be better. Best of Luck Steve and I'll be ringside Saturday.
