Global Legacy Boxing - Fight for the Falls

I finally got out to my first  Global Legacy Boxing event: Fight for the Falls. It took place in Niagara Falls, close to where I grew up. The event took place at the Scotiabank Convention Centre. I had only met a couple of the boxers on the card and I was eager to meet some new people. The event was a sell out and had great production value. It was nice to see a lot of my boxing friends there.

Marko Szalai starts the night off with a bang with a brutal knock out. At one point it looked like his opponent's soul had been knocked out of the body, thankfully he is alright.

Steven Wilcox - WBA-NABA Super Lightweight Title Fight

Three Lions Promotions put on another great pro boxing event in Hamilton, Ontario. Steven "The Piranha" Wilcox defended his WBA-NABA Super Lightweight belt. Despite having to fight the last 4 rounds with only one hand, Steven was never in any trouble during the fight and dropped his opponent twice in the 6th round. A great night of fights overall.

SHOBOX - Clarissa Shields Fight - MGM Grand Detroit

Friday night I had the opportunity to photograph the SHOBOX event and the MGM Grand Detroit. It was a great night of fights and I had a ringside seat. I got to see some old friends, meet some great new people and watch the fights. Boxing is a beautiful sport.

This was an historic night as it was the first time female boxers headlined a SHOBOX card. Congratulations to Clarissa Shields for capturing the NABF Middleweight Championship.

Sparring at Warriors

I went down to Warriors' Boxing and Fitness today to shoot some promo pictures for their upcoming show. While there, some good and lively sparring was taking place...so I had to take pictures. It was a great morning of boxing, like my assistant said, it was a little like church in there today.

Warriors Boxing Show with Boxing Ontario

Earlier this month amateur boxing returned to London with the first show of 2016. I had to be there and a lot of other people turned out as well. It was the pre-Christmas boxing event in London. Warriors Boxing hosted the Boxing Ontario event. 11 competitive fights that night on the card. One extra cool thing was Donovan "Razor" Ruddock was cornering his son in the second fight of the evening. It was a lot of fun getting back to a local club for a show. Rob Caron is a great guy if you're looking to train in boxing in London, Ontario. Politics aside in Ontario's amateur boxing world, both organizations do a fantastic job of matchmaking. The fights are competitive and safe. A couple of shout outs, one to Julia for arranging the round card girls who looked great wearing Elizabeth Noel and to Miguel Estrada on his win. I'm looking forward to more boxing events in London in 2017.

Behind the Scenes @ Three Lions Promotions

Saturday October 1st - Three Lions Promotions put on Hamilton Fights for the Cure a cancer fundraising event. The event was terrific, a packed house, great atmosphere and great fights. I was lucky enough to be invited to shoot behind the scenes pictures from the dressing rooms that night. Thanks to everyone for welcoming me in. It was nice seeing the guys from Steeltown Boxing - Steve Wilcox, Kevin Higson, Jessie Wilcox and Dylan Rushton.

Promo Shoot with 3 Lions Promotions

I went down to Hamilton recently to shot promotional pictures for 3 Lions Promotions for there upcoming show on October 1st. Steeltown Boxing Gym was very welcoming as I shot with Dylan Rushton, Josh O'Reilly, Kevin Higson, Jesse Wicox and Steve Wilcox. I'll post up the poster material once it has been set. Right now I just have a short video clip.

Sparring at Boomerz

I dropped in at Boomerz Boxing Club in London, ON tonight to check out sparring. It was a quiet night so I got lots of opportunity to talk with Lawrence Boom about all things boxing. He's a man that has seen it all in the sport. He was the first gym owner to welcome me in to shoot pictures of his boxers and facility and I've come in many times over the past couple of years. Everyone at Boomerz is extremely welcoming. My friend and insanely talented photographer April Hutchinson came with me. It is always a pleasure watching her work.
